This blog deals with digital culture and new media. It focuses primarily on new developments in the area of search engines and the relating aspects of surveillance and data protection. Another focus is knowledge media – the development, provision and use of knowledge online.
Theo Röhle is a post-doc at the Post-Graduate Programme “Automatisms” and was senior researcher (ad interim) for Digital Media/Mobile Media at the Institute for Media Studies at the University of Paderborn in 2010/11. His research focuses on digital knowledge and epistemology (search engines, Digital Humanities), new forms of surveillance, and concepts of power in media studies and science and technology studies. He received his PhD in media culture from the University of Hamburg in 2010, before that he studied History of Ideas, Cultural Studies and Media and Communication Studies at Stockholm University.
